Q Pickups PAF set, bridge and neck position, designed to replicate the tones of Peter Green’s 1959 Les Paul – the famous “Greenie“.
This set is magnetically “out of phase”, resulting in a unique and nasal guitar tone. The bridge pickup has standard magnet orientation – while the neck magnet is flipped so the screw bobbin is “north up” and slug is “south up”. When both pickups are engaged they will cancel out certain frequencies, creating a distinct tonal character. Although “out of phase” when both are active, on their own these will retain pure and fat tone, both clean and overdriven.
Mr. Green manipulated the volume levels between the neck and bridge pickups to achieve his signature sound. This technique allowed him to emphasize the out-of-phase effect.
